Latest News: Blackouts Scheduled for Tuesday

Rolling blackouts throughout northern California are definitely on the schedule for Tuesday, according to Monday’s 11:00 P.M. news. Ugh. Rolling blackouts are scheduled to begin Tuesday morning. While we’ve all heard this before and lucked out, we’ll see what happens in the morning.

SMUD, our local power company, has also finally agreed to provide a list of areas potentially impacted by an upcoming power outage. Here’s their announcement (as of the time of this article) for local SMUD customers for Tuesday:

"The general neighborhoods most likely to be hit are large portions of Fair Oaks and Folsom, with smaller portions of Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Rancho Cordova and Carmichael."

There will be other areas of northern California subjected to blackouts, too.

As I write this, KCRA Channel 3 (our NBC affiliate) has more up-to-the-minute information at their Web site than SMUD, the local electricity company’s Web site. That could change at any moment, of course!
