Microsoft Wins And Loses

Major news sources are scurrying about with the latest news - the decision to split up Microsoft has been overturned.

In recent weeks, there has also been massive criticism (especially by the Web community) about Microsoft’s Smart Tags. As a result, Microsoft announced that they would drop the Smart Tags link feature from the October 25th release of the new Windows XP. They’ll also drop the feature from Internet Explorer 6 (currently in beta).

For noteworthy commentary, check out Robert Scoble’s Scobleizer and Dave Winer’s Scripting News and The Smart Tags Weblog. A new, well-written, thorough, and fascinating article can be found at A List Apart by Chris Kaminski—Smart Tags: The Benefits and Hazards of Microsoft’s New Technology.
