Reminder: Code Red Worm - Get Your Patch ASAP
Information about the Code Red Worm is plastered all over the Internet so I won’t bother detailing it all here; however, for those possibly impacted by this quickly replicating worm, it’s expected to hit big again.
If you’re using Windows 2000, Windows NT AND the IIS web server software, remember to get the patch to block the virus. As of this morning only a small percentage of Windows 2000, NT and IIS users have actually installed the patch to catch the virus, according to news reports.
From Microsoft TechNet:
"Who Must Act? Every organization or person who has Windows NT or Windows 2000 systems AND the IIS web server software may be vulnerable. IIS is installed automatically for many applications. If you are not certain, follow the instructions to determine whether you are running IIS 4.0 or 5.0. If you are using Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP RC1 or later, or Windows .NET Server build 3505 or later, there is no action that you need to take in response to this alert."
Here are some resources for further information, where to download the patch, and more.
