Archiving the Internet Stories About the Attacks

The Washington Post’s Leslie Walker wrote a story Thursday about researchers capturing web pages moments after the Sept. 11 attacks to capture the world’s response: Web-Page Collection Preserves The Online Response to Horror. The Library of Congress and the Internet Archive are working together on this ambitious endeavor, and what a valuable contribution to the world, too!

The researchers used special software to make copies of attack-related Web sites, storing thousands of pages off-line, including many that were changing so fast they would not be viewable by future generations unless someone grabbed them right away.

We’re all asked to let them know of appropriate pages out there, too. Check out their site, - Help build the Sep11 Attack Archive.
