Brainstorms and Raves

Weblog Tools Wish Lists, Longevity

Matthew Thomas wrote an outline of features he’d like in his ideal weblogging system, following up Monday debating data preservation for his ideal weblogging system. There’s lots of interesting discussions and comments at his weblog, too.

Follow-up 2003-05-07: More interesting discussion follows about preserving data and longevity. I’ve been following discussions and talks about the Semantic Web, metadata, and sharing and longevity of information, which is how I came across these posts in the first place. My interest has grown as a result of exploring ways to preserve website information and content for clients, ways to manage and save my own weblog posts, and ways to manage and catalog my ever-increasing volume of data. Standardized formats that can work and last continue to cross my mind.
