Netscape’s Demise and News
All over the Web you’ll find plenty of comments, articles, and predictions about Netscape being closed down and the creation of the new Mozilla Foundation. In case you’ve missed the news, though, in a nutshell, AOL has closed down Netscape operations and has laid off many Netscape employees or moved them to AOL. For details and thoughts, here are a few links to posts that I wholeheartedly recommend: Eric Meyer writes a bit about his Netscape employment in his 2 posts, Moments of Transition and Standing At a Crossroads. See also Vanderwal.net, stopdesign. For some terrific links to news reports and more information, check out WaSP’s posts Tuesday and Wednesday, Eulogizing Netscape and Sorting it Out.
