Post to MovableType or Typepad from FeedDemon

In the FeedDemon newsgroup Jakub Kazecki shared how to post to MovableType directly from FeedDemon RSS Reader:

  1. In FeedDemon, select Tools > Blog this News Item > Configure Blog Publishing Tools.
  2. Then click the Add button. In the next window enter a name, such as Movable Type, and add the following for the command line (minus any word wrapping):

    http://www.myblog.com/cgi-bin/mt.cgi?
    is_bm=1&bm_show=&__mode=view&_type=entry
    &title=$ITEM_TITLE$
    &link_title=$ITEM_TITLE$
    &link_href=$ITEM_LINK$
    &text=$ITEM_DESCRIPTION$

    where 'www.myblog.com/cgi-bin' is the URL of your MT installation.

  3. Click the checkbox if you’d like this to be FeedDemon’s default blog publishing tool, and then click OK.

Try out your new settings.

I’ve implemented the above and it works beautifully.

Typepad users can also post directly from FeedDemon. See Glenn Slaven’s post for directions: Posting to TypePad from FeedDemon.
