HomeSite Update/Upgrade 4.5.2 Released

Allaire released an update for HomeSite Dec. 20, 2000, with several upgraded features and improvements. The resource leak has been fixed, among other things.

Here’s an excerpt from their announcement that I got in my email:

"Here are some of the enhancements you can look forward to:

* Extended Integration with Third-Party Tools - FTP functionality powered by Ipswitch WS_FTP, plus added integration with the latest versions of HTML Tidy and TopStyle Lite

* Enhanced Language Support - Complete support for all SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language), IMFL (RealPix), and RTML (RealText) tags; updated the ColdFusion tag help with the latest syntax; complete support for all WML (Wireless Markup Language) tags, including the extensions; and a complete set of JRun tag definitions

* Improved Resource Management- Significant resource usage reductions in Windows 95/98/ME; checks system resource levels on startup, and monitors them while the program is running.

You can also go to Allaire’s download page and download a free update if you’re a registered owner.

If you haven’t tried HomeSite yet, you can download a free 60-day evaluation version and check it out. also offers a series of tutorials on HomeSite, other tips and tricks, and there’s a fairly extensive annotated listing of tutorials and resources in the HTML editors section under HomeSite, too.
