Cordless Mice and Keyboards
Does your mouse cord ever get in the way or get tangled up? Between that and my keyboard’s cord being taped to the side of my desk’s keyboard pull-out shelf, I was getting quite tired of dealing with the cords all the time. Logitech’s Cordless Freedom Pro came to my rescue.
I’ve had a Logitech ergonomic mouse for quite awhile that fits my hand well and works great. So last fall I purchased their cordless version (the Cordless MouseMan Wheel®) to use with my laptop (it’s terrific!). More than thrilled with its use, last month I bought Logitech’s Cordless Freedom Pro set that includes the ergonomically designed cordless mouse and keyboard.
The tape holding the keyboard cord to the shelf is gone now and so is the constant hassle of cords getting tangled up or in the way. I can easily type with the keyboard on my lap or even several feet away from the monitor if I wish, as changing positions and moving around often is important in preventing RSS (repetitive strain syndrome). I can see these working great for people using WebTV, too.
The ergonomic keyboard is comfortable to use and seems well designed. I’ve used a few different ergonomic keyboards, and this one works well for my needs. The keys are easy to press, and the overall shape of the keys and the keyboard falls well under my hands. It also has other conveniences, such as extra buttons that can be programmed to click for your email, a certain webpage, a program, and various multimedia settings, such as volume control, play, rewind, stop, pause, etc.
The Cordless MouseMan Wheel® mouse is also very comfortable and has customizable features. I’ve programmed it to use my thumb for clicking, for example, and I can switch those buttons to do various tasks. Once again, varying their uses helps prevent RSS. (It only takes a few minutes to get readjusted to the setting changes, too.) You can also leave the settings alone if you prefer, of course. There’s a wheel that can be used for scrolling, and it’s also capable of customization.
They have a special deal going right now, too (until the end of February): if you buy any Cordless Freedom Pro mouse and keyboard from Logitech’s online store, you’ll get their QuickCam® Express webcam free. So if you’re in the market for a new keyboard or mouse, these can be purchased separately or as a set. The set costs around US$95-$100 retail.
