Goldmine of Copyright-Free Photos

Gimp-Savvy’s Copyright-Free Photo Archive is a huge resource of over 15,000 very high quality photographs that are freely available to use. The collage to the right was made using their free photos. (Click on the photo for a larger version.)

You’ll find photos gathered from several sources—National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) , National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) , U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and provided at the Gimp-Savvy Site.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s available:

• FWS: Wildlife, Animals, Plants, Environments
• NOAA: Oceans, Animals, Underwater Life, Weather
• NASA JSC: Earth from Space, Space Shuttle, Planets...
• NASA AILS: ...Moons, Historical NASA Photos, etc.
