Friday Feast #64: Abbreviations, Acronyms, and Shortened Words

I've noticed that a growing number of websites are providing tooltips and styles for abbreviations and acronyms within content. Later versions of browsers support the abbr and acronym elements, with the exception of Internet Explorer unfortunately not recognizing the abbr element. Today's Friday Feast provides some helpful links to tutorials, comments, examples, information, charts, and tools related to abbreviations, acronyms, and initialisms.
Friday Feast #61: Unwanted Comments

I was absolutely horrified when I read Phil Ringnalda's comment spam alert story last year in which a Las Vegas real estate agent used a script to try to autogenerate comments to every single one of Phil's entries, including links to the spammer's real estate site. While most of us won't get bombed like that we still have our hands full with unwanted comment spammers. Today's Friday Feast provides some tips about what I do to help combat comment spam along with links to more helpful tips, plugins, scripts, and information. (1318 words, 24 links)

Friday Feast #59: WYSIWYG and Dreamweaver MX 2004

Weaving CSS Dreams is a terrific article by Doug Bowman about the new Dreamweaver MX 2004. He takes a good look at the pros and cons of using WYSIWYG software in general and the new Dreamweaver in specific. As Doug also mentions, Macromedia has worked closely with the WaSP Dreamweaver Task Force for a couple of years now and more recently with Eric Meyer. The results have meant vast improvements from what their product was prior to their MX series.

Friday Feast #57: Browsers, Standards, and Opera's Latest

I've written previously that now is a fantastic window of opportunity for other browsers to promote their features, especially to companies who could migrate their entire staffs and intranets to a browser other than Internet Explorer. Today's Friday Feast is about Opera doing exactly that, along with other browsers and popular features. (1331 words, 20 links)
